Marantz has announced the NR1604 and NR1504 AV receivers. Both are designed to pack the same sort of audio punch as their bulkier counterparts, except this time they fit into a much smaller space.

We reviewed the NR1603 a few months ago and found its simplicity and ease of use to be impressive, along with the amount of power it could put out. The NR1604 will be priced in at £549 and the NR1504 at £399.

Both include AirPlay, Spotify and DLNA for audio streaming. Slightly unusual formats like FLAC and Apple Lossless are also supported, ensuring you get the best quality audio playbook.

The main differences relate to the number of HDMI inputs, with the NR1604 using 7 and the 504 using 6. 4K support is also present on the NR1604, you also get 7 channels rather than the 5 found on the NR1504. The 1604 can even upscale conventional HDMI content to 4K.

Both receivers are on sale right now, in both black and silver/gold designs.
