One thing that was missing from Google I\/O was an anticipated announcement of the next installment of Android. But it seems there were some Key Lime Pie references appearing in developer presentations at the event in San Francisco. There are a couple of slides (pictured) that could well be a little tease. While not confirmation of anything, it's a wink to an upgrade that a lot of people have been talking about. The first is a top-hat-wearing Android sitting on a bench snacking on what looks like key lime pie. The second is a list of powers on offer, including Chrome, Jelly Bean and Key Lime Pie.Before Google I\/O we found reference to Android 4.3 in our server logs, suggesting that there is an Android upgrade in testing, although all rumours point to 4.3 still rolling with the Jelly Bean name.As for Key Lime Pie, we suspect Google's next major update will come in line with a new device. It's a little early in the year for a Nexus device refresh if previous timelines are anything to go by. Google announced that a raw Android Samsung Galaxy S4 would be joining the devices on offer on Google Play, but that was all.A Hangouts video, however, showed what could potentially be a Nexus 7 update. The Nexus 7 is now the oldest Nexus device so could get a replacement fairly soon. The current model was announced on 29 June 2012, so it's nearly a year old. Perhaps we will see Key Lime Pie appearing in the summer with a new Nexus 7.We will keep you posted.
