Onkyo debuts 4K AV receivers TX-NR929 and TX-NR828, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled
Onkyo has included everything bar the kitchen sink in its latest duo of AV receivers. Not only do the Onkyo TX-NR929 and TX-NR828 feature on-board Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity from the box, and are THX-certified, they are also both 4K compatible.
That means they will accept and pass-through 4K images from a UHD source, making them as futureproof as they come. They can also upscale footage to 4K using Qdeo processing technology from Marvell.
The higher end TX-NR929 is a 9.2 receiver with set-up helped immeasurably by Audyssey's MultEQ XT32 room acoustic equalisation. The TX-NR828 has the Audyssey MultEQ tech used on several other recent Onkyo receivers.
They both share a host of other features. There's Wireless lossless audio streaming from iPhone, iPad, Android, PC, Mac and NAS boxes. And both come with upmixing solutions, Audyssey DSX and Dolby Pro Logic IIz. The 929 also adds DTS Neo:X to the mix. Literally.
The TX-NR929 comes with nine HDMI inputs in, two out. While the TX-NR828 comes with eight in, two out.
Onkyo quotes the price of the TX-NR929 at £1,500 and it is available now. The TX-NR828 will be available from June for £1,000.
