Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0: Alleged press pic and specs leaked
With a 7-inch version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 already officially announced, why the company would want to release another one that's only fractionally larger beats us. However, that's what it is alleged to be doing, if a leaked press image and a list of specifications are anything to go by.
Samsung-dedicated website SamMobile says a source has sent it a picture of what is claimed to be the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0. In addition, a number of key features and specifications have been unearthed.
It is claimed the device's codename is SM-T310 for the 3G version, SM-T311 for Wi-Fi-only. It will come with Android 4.2.2 from the box, its 8-inch TFT display will have a 1280 x 800 resolution, and the processor will be of the 1.5GHz dual-core variety. The site states that it will have 1.5GB of RAM (which seems an odd number to us), while on-board storage will be 16GB, with a microSD card slot accepting up to 64GB extra.
The rear camera, it says, will be 5-megapixel and the front 1.3-megapixel.
Other specs include Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n connectivity. A-GPS is present, as is a 4,450mAh battery.
The tablet will be 209.3 x 122.2 x 6.95mm and the 3G model will be compatible with EDGE (850/900/1800/1900), HSPA+42Mbps, HSUPA 5.76Mbps (850/900/1900/2100) networks.
According to SamMobile, the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 is expected to be announced at the end of June, so we won't have long to wait to find out if it's a load of old baloney or not. We're not convinced ourselves, especially as the pic looks nothing like the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, even though it's only a smidgeon larger.
We'll leave it to you to make up your own mind.
