A raft of digital compacts have been launched by Samsung this CES and the latest is the 8.1-megapixel i8.

This latest launch is an all-rounder, equipped with a 2.7-inch touchscreen LCD and PMP (Personal Multimedia Player) with integrated MP3 player.

As well as the usual photographic features, including Samsung's Digital Image Stabilisation system and ISO 1600 high sensitivity support, it also boasts an in-built ‘World Tour Guide’ function, which provides instant access to travel information covering 2600 regions in 30 countries.

Photographers can add to the travel info on their camera with downloads from a dedicated website, which can be stored on the camera's 195MB of internal memory.

Additional tools include Samsung’s Intelligent Face Recognition Technology.

The i8 will retail at £149 and will be available from February.
