Jawbone Big Jambox updated with better audio quality and battery life

Speaker company Jawbone has pushed a huge update to its Big Jambox wireless speaker, improving on its capabilities.

The update is available free on Jawbone's website. How often do you hear of a speaker receiving a software update?

The update delivers better audio quality to the wireless speaker with the addition of the AAC codec found in iOS 6.1. Two hours of extra battery life are also added when paired to an iOS 6.1 device. In our review we noted we could get through a whole work day on one charge with no problems, so the extra two hours is a nice little bonus.

A new Silent Mode has also been added to the wireless speaker, muting all audio except the music on the speaker. It is enabled by holding down the Talk and Minus buttons while powering on the Jam Box. Furthermore, volume control between a Bluetooth 4.0 device and the speaker is now synced up. LED response is improved and connectivity for the PS Vita is also found for mobile gaming audio.

When we reviewed the Big Jambox, we noted it had better audio quality over the original small version, producing more sound and at a better overall quality.
