CES 2008: Samsung launches dual screen monitor

Two screens are better than one

Samsung has unveiled a 22-inch LCD monitor at this year's consumer electronics show in Las Vegas that comes with an additional 7-inch screen to boost productivity.

Seeing that business users want a second screen for tools, widgets and other instant information items without the expense of having the buy another monitor all together, the new model, called the SyncMaster 2263DX monitor, will come with the an additional 7-inch monitor connected to the display.

Featuring a tandem seven-inch monitor connected to the primary display, the 2263DX monitor the smaller screen is attached via a pivoting, swiveling arm, allowing it to be positioned on either side or above the main display.

The main monitor is equipped with a built-in 2 megapixel webcam, dual-array microphone and speakers.

Tech spec wise the main monitor will sport a 1680 x 1050 resolution and a resolution of 800x480 on the tandem screen. Additionally the display features Samsung's MagicBrite technology, as well as an 8,000:1 contrast ratio complemented by a 5 ms response time.

The SyncMaster 2263DX monitor is currently available and costs $549.99
