YouTube reaches one billion users per month
eachmonth - a huge milestone for the eight-year-old video network.
The Mountain View-based team gave some figures around the accomplishment. One billion viewers is roughly ten Super Bowl audiences, and if YouTube were a country, it would be the third largest in the world after China and India.
YouTube has grown a tremendous amount in the past year - from 800 million unique visitors, or 25 per cent. In late-December, the network had its first video to reach 1 billion views: Gangnam Style.
According to statistics from YouTube last year, over 4 billion hours of video are watched each month on YouTube, 72 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute, and 70 per cent of YouTube traffic comes from outside the US. We suspect these numbers have risen - a lot.
