Now, we realise that this is the sort of thing we’d normal pour scorn on, but, to be brutally honest, we just don’t see the harm in this, even if it is a bit naff.

You choose a 2, 10 or 20-minute “guided relaxation” and then sit back and let the waves of calm, soothing instructions waft over you.

And you know what? It works.

You might feel a little self-conscious with headphones on, staring at a picture of a tranquil lake for 20 minutes, but you’ll feel a hell of a lot better about things afterwards.

So there. It might seem naff, but if you’re having a bad day, it’s possibly worth a try.
