We get that this isn't necessarily for everyone, but if you are a bit of a Pope fan, then this app could prove invaluable.

It acts like a one-stop shop for all news, images and general gossip about the 2013 papal election. It is also laid out really well, with clean and clear menus and more than enough info to justify the 69p price tag. So read on to find out more.

Download the app and you are treated to a Twitter-style set of tabs on the bottom of the home page, each providing different information about the papal election. There is news, biographies, Twitter, odds and history to choose from.

The newsfeed is fairly self explanatory, keeping you up to date on all the goings on. We also like the Twitter cloud, which is like a tag cloud found on blogs, showing you words that are trending. Bios are fairly detailed and should keep you informed on each of the candidates.

Finally we have the history section, which is impressively fully featured. It explains the background to the election, why and how it all works. The odds section will inform you how the betting's going.

Virtually every page of the app is shareable and the whole thing is bug free. As election apps go, this is one of the best. Let's hope similar apps emerge for events in the UK.
