Corel Corporation today unveiled the new version of its award-winning Tablet PC application, Corel® Grafigo* 2. Designed specifically for the Tablet PC, Corel Grafigo 2 improves mobile productivity with enhanced tools for content creation, annotation and collaboration through an easy-to-use interface. With new intuitive drawing assistance tools, integrated document management features and leading-edge collaboration technology, Corel Grafigo 2 is an ideal companion for mobile professionals."Customers love the mobility, productivity and collaboration that Corel Grafigo enables," said Brett Denly, vice president of marketing for Corel. "With Corel Grafigo 2, we've further enhanced the experience with intuitive tools that are intelligent enough to interpret quick sketches so there's no need for guess work. This means clearer communication and faster, more efficient results. Customers can expect to see this same intelligence reflected in Corel's future software releases as we continue to build on our reputation for giving customers innovative solutions that evolve with their needs."
New features in Corel Grafigo 2 are designed around three key mobile workflow concepts - create, annotate and collaborate.
Create
- Enhanced Drawing Assistance - Create flow charts and capture white boarding sessions using powerful drawing aids such as line straightening; alignment of line segments, end points, and corners; auto-closing of geometrical and non-geometrical shapes; symmetry recognition; and snapping. These new features recognise the shapes users draw and convert them into perfect forms. In addition to the hand-drawn shapes recognised in version 1.0, Corel Grafigo now recognises arrows and trapezoids.
- Enhanced Library - Easily access reusable content from underlays, Onionskins, text frames and ink strokes for quick insertion.
- New Grab-it Tool - Grab content from any application or Web page and bring it directly into Corel Grafigo 2 with only a few taps of the pen.
Annotate
- Enhanced Underlays - Import multi-page documents from any program that supports standard Windows® print functionality on your Tablet PC. Automatically converted to underlays, these documents can be moved, resized and deleted with ease. As users bring in pages as separate underlays, Corel Grafigo 2 automatically adds them as views to the View Manager toolbar for easy access.
- Enhanced Onionskins - Use transparent overlays for annotating or marking up existing files without altering the original. Corel Grafigo 2 lets users show, hide, lock and unlock Onionskins and uses multiple coloured Onionskins ensuring that different authors can be easily identified in a collaboration session.
- New Navigator - View and navigate within documents more easily. Use the Navigator to pan to any area of the workspace with a tap of the pen.
Collaborate
- Enhanced Real-time collaboration - Through Microsoft® Peer-to-Peer technology or Microsoft® NetMeeting®, Corel Grafigo 2 lets users collaborate with colleagues over the Internet in real time. Changes made by one user can be seen simultaneously by all members of the collaboration session, saving time during group projects, brainstorming sessions or whenever input is required from multiple sources.
- New Direct E-mail Output - After reviewing and annotating files and documents, use e-mail to send documents directly from the application, creating a highly efficient communication workflow.
- New Auto Slide Show - Save views as a slide show and open them in an SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) viewer. For multi-page documents, Corel Grafigo 2 also provides navigation controls that let users navigate through the views they've defined.
Written in the C# programming language that takes advantage of Microsoft's .NET capabilities, this award-winning software was one of the first applications developed specifically for the Tablet PC platform. Using SVG as its native file format, users can share and view Corel Grafigo 2 files using the Corel SVG Viewer, available free at www.corel.com/svgviewer .
"With the introduction of Corel Grafigo 2, Corel continues its innovation for the Tablet PC allowing users to more effectively create and share their graphic designs while on the go," said Andrew Dixon, director of Tablet PC marketing at Microsoft Corp. "As the first software application to include Microsoft peer-to-peer technology, Corel Grafigo 2 takes productivity and collaboration in mobile computing to an entirely new level, enabling significantly higher business value for mobile workers."
What the Tablet PC industry is saying about Corel Grafigo 2:
"Corel is taking mobile productivity even further with the introduction of Corel Grafigo 2. Corel Grafigo 2 is an ideal complement to the innovative design of the Compaq Tablet PC from HP because it removes the barriers to capturing and sharing ideas - ensuring that our customers can be fully productive, no matter where they are," said Naila Seif, director mobile solutions at HP.
