3D printer makes Gummi candies from 3D body scans

A cafe in Japan is producing some truly unique 3D printed models. Called the FabCafe, visitors can have their entire bodies scanned and then printed out in 3D Gummi form.

The human Gummi bears are designed to put smiles on the faces of couples on Japan's White day, or Valentine's day. on 14 March. The cafe is letting you make your boyfriend far sweeter than he is and eat him as well.

Given the tech involved in 3D printing, it isn't possible to simply go in and ask for yourself rendered in sweets. The cafe is instead offering nine lucky customers the chance to have themselves immortalised in candy.

The deal comes as part of FabCafe's White Day workshop, which is designed to offer you a Valentine's themed mix of 3D printing and laser cutting.

We really can't imagine just how mad a cafe devoted to printing and lasers would be, nor are we sure it will be everybody's idea of a nice Valentine's day out, but still 3D sweets formed from your own good looks can't be a bad thing.
