Nikon Coolpix L320 offers 26x super zoom on a budget

Nikon has surpassed itself with its new budget super zoom camera, with just about every spec from last year's model improved upon. The Nikon Coolpix L320 has a 16-megapixel CCD sensor (up from 14-megapixel) and a 26x super zoom extreme wide-angle lens (up from 21x), all for £199.99.

The Nikkor lens has an optical zoom range of 22.5-585mm, while the camera is also capable of 720p video recording. It features a 3-inch 230k dot LCD screen on the rear, and takes AA batteries rather than a rechargeable L-ion type so, as Nikon says, is great for travelling.

Lens-shift vibration reduction is on board, and it is capable of up to 1600 ISO. There's also motion detection and best shot selector technology, which selects the sharpest of up to 10 shots.

The L320 features Nikon's smart portrait system, with a smile timer taking the shot when the subject grins, and a blink-proof mode ensures they haven't got their eyes closed in the shot.

The processor on board is Nikon's Expeed C2. And the camera is compatible with Eye-Fi X2 cards and above, allowing you to transmit your photos via Wi-Fi.

Nikon's Coolpix L320 super zoom camera will be out from 21 March.
