Napster has added downloadable ring-tones and shout-outs to its catalogue of songs in its music download service for customers in America.

In partnership with mobile entertainment content firm Dwango Wireless, Napster has launched www.napstertones.com to provide polyphonic ring-tones, master-tones and voice-tones of artist "shout-outs".

The service will also offer mobile phone wallpaper featuring the Napster Kitty and other graphics from Napster's library.

Each graphic or ring-tone will cost between $1.99 and $2.99 twice to three times as much as a song from its download service.

No plans have yet been announced for a UK or European launch.
