While Android device owners are still waiting for some regular features of BBC iPlayer - such as downloads for offline viewing - iPhone, iPod touch and iPad owners have been treated to an app update that adds more to their experience.
The biggest change is with Airplay. Now, with Airplay enabled, users on iOS devices can stream programmes via an Apple TV to their TV from their mobile device and send the app into the background. The show will continue to play, even when they are using their phone or tablet for something else.
One commenter has also pointed out that the improved Airplay mode no longer starts a show from the beginning if you pause and go to another app.
Other minor upgrades include improved download reliability and better picture quality. There are numerous bug fixes and enhancements too.
You can download the iOS version of BBC iPlayer from iTunes for free.
