Sony has announced that gamers will be able to stream PlayStation 3 games to the PlayStation 4 over the cloud, at its New York City media event.

There will be no backwards compatibility for the PlayStation 4, meaning gamers won't be able to pop in their old PlayStation 3 (PS2 and PS1 as well) titles into the console, Sony detailed. Rather, gamers will be required to download the games over the cloud.

Sony announced that games are playable while they're downloading.

Sony hasn't detailed pricing or availability yet. Stay tuned.
