Google Now widget prematurely revealed by... Google

It seems that Google is about to further update its Google Now, introducing a home or lock screen widget that shows you the most salient information you require, while offering a way to leap into the full Google Now experience from a simple tap.

A leaked grab of the widget appeared on Google's own website, as part of a support page which has now been taken down, but not before Android Central managed to lift it.

Google Now was introduced with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It is an intelligent personal assistant that many claim is far better than Apple's Siri system. It can be voice controlled and can do many things Siri cannot, such as provide car navigation, a pedometer to show how far you've walked, train times and more.

When and how the Google Now widget might become available is unknown at present - after all, the screengrab was prematurely posted - but we'll let you know when we find out more. It could well be part of a Google Play update or even come with the next incremental build of Jelly Bean. We, and others, favour the former.
