Belkin has announced a new wireless keyboard/case combo for Apple's iPad mini, at just 7mm thick.
The California-based company says its FastFit keyboard cover is the thinnest and lightest Bluetooth wireless keyboard on the market. Additionally, it can last for 155 hours of active use on one charge thanks to its 200mAh battery and low-powered Bluetooth 3.0 connection.
Like most cases for the iPad and iPad mini, it connects to the side of the device with a magnet and features Apple's "auto-wake" feature which, when the cover is opened, turns the screen on.
This week, Logitech announced its keyboard case for the mini that looks very similar and aims to turn the 7.9-inch tablet into a laptop. Users find themselves looking for a wireless keyboard for easier, more comfortable typing.
“Thought the FastFit provides a laptop-like typing experience, it’s a far cry from a bulky laptop computer,” said Jamie Elgie, senior director of product management at Belkin.
"Built with anodised aircraft-grade aluminum, the case is ideal for travel or typing on the go. Secure-hold magnets snap the keyboard on to the iPad mini for easy carrying without the added weight."
Belkin's FastFit Bluetooth keyboard case will cost $79.99 and be available for pre-order soon.
