BlackBerry is going for the jugular on the app front with BlackBerry 10. The global launch of the new operating system saw BlackBerry confirm support of Skype, Angry Birds and WhatsApp.

These are three key apps for any smartphone OS and make up part of what BlackBerry promises will be 70,000 apps available at launch.

Alongside confirmation of these apps, BlackBerry also updated BlackBerry World. Music and video downloads now join applications, turning BlackBerry World into a BB version of iTunes.

No sign of Skype on BlackBerry World just yet, but it has been promised. In the meantime, don't forget BBM is going to support video calling
