As well as its IXUS line refresh, Canon has announced a sole addition to its PowerShot range in the shape of the Canon PowerShot A2500.
This 16-megapixel model offers up a 5x optical zoom lens with a 28-140mm equivalent range. It may not have quite the same zoom range as its IXUS model equivalents, but that's what separates this point and shoot - the focus is on quality in a slim, metal-exterior body.
The PowerShot A2500 comes complete with digital image stabilisation, battery-saving Eco mode, various creative modes and can also capture 720p movie clips.
The A2500 model sits below the existing A2600 in the PowerShot heirarchy, separated only by its smaller 2.7-inch LCD screen.
If price is critical then we suspect the A2500's £89 price tag will undercut its little brother when it hits the shelves this April.
