ASUS announces $149 MeMO Pad, available later this month in three colors

Asus has announced its new MeMO Pad tablet following the tablet madness of CES 2013. The lesser-spec'd Nexus 7 lookalike, running Jelly Bean, will be available later this month in "emerging markets" for $149.

With a 1024x600 resolution screen, 1GHz VIA WM8950 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB or 16GB of storage, and 1-megapixel front-facing camera, the MeMO Pad will ship in white, grey, or pink.

This is obviously not meant to compete with the £159 Nexus 7 released in the summer, but to offer a cheaper solution for a specific set of customers.

Additional specs for the MeMO Pad include 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, microSD card slot (up to 32GB), 5GB free Asus Web Storage, 3.5mm headphone jack, and Micro-USB port for charging/synching.

Asus has cautioned potential customers this is a "tablet-only product" - meaning if you're seeking a keyboard dock the Nexus 7 or Transformer Prime may be more ideal.

You can expect the MeMO Pad to launch in the US in April.
