It is, most definitely, award season.
The BAFTAs, with a new aqua livery courtesy of sponsors EE, were announced last week. As were the Oscars.
Steven Spielberg looks set to add a fair few bits of bling to his mantelpiece thanks to Lincoln, and there's a reasonably good showing for British talent across the board too, including Naomi Watts, Cameron Mackintosh and the 23rd Bond outing, Skyfall.
But what of other industries?
The Shorty Awards celebrate the best in social media, and the nomination process, open to anybody through Twitter, is open now.
Although most social networks famously try to eschew establishment pomp and ceremony, anybody who's anybody in new media will admit to being ever so slightly keen to be featured here.
Previous winners include some of the biggest names in show business, media and the arts, as well as some of the most influential and respected brands and creative agencies.
