Logitech launches Squeezebox Duet player

Logitech has introduced today the Logitech Squeezebox Duet Network Music Player.

This is a versatile system which allows users to wirelessly browse, select and play all their PC music on their existing stereo systems from any room in their home using a controller.

The controller has a 2.4-inch colour LCD screen and scroll wheel to navigate through song titles, album art, personalized wallpapers and additional information including RSS Feeds and radio station information.

Logitech adds that the system offers support for a wide variety of digital music files, including uncompressed and lossless formats.

It uses true 802.11g wireless networking and dual internal antennas.

Logitech continues that it is possible to add more Squeezebox receivers, so that people can listen to a different song in each room, or synchronize their receivers to hear the same song throughout the house.

Users can also opt to connect to SqueezeNetwork, Logitech’s always-on Internet radio and music aggregation service, which enables Squeezebox Duet owners to stream music, even with their computers turned off; and also offers access to a directory of thousands of Internet radio stations and subscription services including Pandora, MP3tunes and Rhapsody.

Logitech adds that current Squeezebox and Transporter owners who want to control their music from the palm of their hand, a standalone Squeezebox Controller can be purchased and easily integrated into their current setup.

The Logitech Squeezebox Duet network music system is expected to be available in the US and Europe this month for around €399.99, while additional receivers can be purchased separately for €149.99 while a standalone controller is €299.99.
