Huawei topped off its CES press conference by saying it had something much more exciting planned for Mobile World Congress 2013, to be held in February in Barcelona, Spain.

After running through the newly launched Ascend D2 and Ascend Mate, Huawei's Richard Yu, CEO of Consumer Business group, announced: "Huawei will be launching two new products at MWC that are more innovative than these two phones."

Clearly Huawei plans on going big in 2013. The mobile phone manufacturer has already set pretty high standards with its mammoth 6.1-inch screen Ascend Mate and the powerful flagship 1080p D2, as it looks to break ground on the global stage.

There's the curious case of the missing Ascend W1, the Windows Phone 8 handset that has been previously mentioned by Yu Chengdong. "We will also launch the Windows Phone 8 phone, W1," the Huawei CEO said back in December 2012.
