You won't just need a Magic Remote for an LG Smart TV, you can also use your finger

LG has added gesture control to its 2013 Smart TV range. As well as including the new, redesigned Magic Remote and Voice Mate – vocal commands - you can now use just your finger to control the company's latest televisions.

Thanks to the inclusion of "an extremely high resolution" integrated front-facing camera, the company's top level set can read the movements you make in the air through its "Finger Gesture" feature, so if you've lost that remote control down the back of the sofa, you can still change channels and browse.

The company made the announcement during its CES 2013 press conference, where it also revealed that the new Smart TV functionality - including an enhanced user interface - will be available on no less that 21 different TV models from seven series of sets in the line-up.

The company also revealed the US version of its 55-inch consumer released OLED TV, the 55EA9800. It will be available for $12,000 in the States from March. While is is also expected to be released in the UK at the same time, the European prices are yet to be revealed.
