Mad Catz had a great CES last year, with the launch of its MLG Pro Circuit Controller for PS3 and Xbox 360. Its design and build quality - to professional gaming standards - set the standard which others are now following. And even before this year's tech trade show has started, it's apparent that it will have another cracker. At CES Unveiled, a preview event designed for companies to show off their wares in a more personal way before the main shindig begins, Mad Catz offered its new GameSmart range to lovingly feel, stroke and ogle. There are four devices - two mice, one headset and one games controller - and the unique attribute they all share is that they will work cross platform.Whether it be iPad, iPhone, Android tablet or smartphone, PC, Mac, Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, each of the accessories will control games wirelessly and more besides. Its an interesting mantra, and it was cool to see the first wave of GameSmart wares. The M.O.U.S.9 Wireless Mouse is designed much like the company's popular R.A.T. controllers, but is more an all-rounder rather than just a gaming pointer. It features a laser sensor that works on all manner of surfaces - including glass - and has numerous assigned buttons that can help with word processing as capably as they can\u00a0Call of Duty.As well as carry Bluetooth to connect the device to an iOS or Android device, the M.O.U.S.9 comes with a small USB dongle housed in its belly, that can be plugged into any USB-compatible kit - such as a PC or Mac. And it is here that we can see it being used on a day-to-day basis, as it's ergonomically very comfortable indeed. The R.A.T.M Wireless Mobile Gaming Mouse is a similar shape and offers similar functionality, but is smaller and more adaptable. It has 12 action buttons in total, of which 10 are programmable. It too comes with a USB dongle, which can even be plugged into a next-generation Smart TV to provide compatibility. Its more compact body shape and Bluetooth connectivity makes it even more portable than the M.O.U.S.9.The F.R.E.Q.M Mobile Stereo Headset is not a wireless device, it does come with cables. However, it is designed with gamers in mind. It is predominatly for phones, tablets, PC and Mac and comes with two different in-line microphone options, and is made of a solid aluminium build. Finally, the Mad Catz C.T.R.L.R Wireless GamePad will be coming later in the year. Again, it uses the low latency Bluetooth Smart v4.0 to connect to mobile devices and can also work with PC and Mac. It has been styled on the MLG Pro Circuit Controller - using the same tooling system at Mad Catz's factory. We saw it used to play an Android game that hasn't been modified to be compatible in any way. Impressive. The two mice and the headset will each come in four colours - matte black, gloss black, white and red.
