Following the news that the Queen has turned to technology this year to give her Christmas message a more up to date angle, it seems the idea has been a success.

It was announced that the Queen was to launch her own channel on video sharing website YouTube, called The Royal Channel, and that visitors to the page would be able to watch the Queen's speech at 3pm on Christmas Day as well as previous footage of the Royal family including the first message to the nation 50 years ago.

Figures today on YouTube reveal that the video of Queen's Christmas day speech alone has notched up an impressive 472,174 views.
