Nokia Catwalk to replace Lumia 920 as flagship phone, will be lighter and aluminium

Nokia is rumoured to be replacing the Lumia 920 with a lighter flagship model, codenamed Catwalk. The company will also dispense with the polycarbonate shell that it has used on all of its high-end Windows Phone handsets in favour of an aluminium build.

Sources familiar with the Finnish manufacturer's plans have informed The Verge that the new device will spearhead a range of new Windows Phone 8 smartphones to be launched this year. The aluminium body will be used on "at least one" of the handsets.

As well as lighter - the Nokia Lumia 920 has been criticised as being too heavy by many, Pocket-lint included - the Nokia Catwalk will be thinner than its predecessor. However, it is reported that the inner technologies will be similar.

It is claimed that by adopting an aluminium shell the new device will compete with the iPhone 5 for looks and, equally importantly, weight. There are currently no details on when we might see the Nokia Catwalk, or what it's final name may be... Nokia Lumia 930 anybody?
