WhatsApp has released a version of its popular messaging app for Windows Phone 8. The app, which is already available for Windows Phone 7.5 users, has been missing from the WP8 launch roster to date.
According to Nokia, WhatsApp has worked with the phone company to "produce a version that is properly optimised for the latest Windows Phone platform experience".
It will, however, work with other Windows Phone 8 devices like the HTC 8X.
Once the app is installed, it will automatically find other WhatsApp users in your phonebook and add them to its built-in phone book. WhatsApp is free for the first 12 months, then $0.99 thereafter.
In related news, Facebook has updated its Windows Phone 8 app. According to Microsoft, version 4.1.0 fixes some bugs and improves stability and performance.
