Eton has announced a couple of additions to its Rukus line of portable sound systems at CES 2013 in Las Vegas.
Looking to catch the eye of the outdoor types, the Rugged Rukus is designed to be durable, with an IPX-4 rating for splash resistance. Like other Rukus devices, it features a solar panel to charge the internal battery.
The Rugged Rukus has a pair of 40mm speaker drivers, perfect for belting out Billy Ocean on the move, and is Bluetooth compatible, so you can hook up to your smartphone with ease.
There’s also a USB socket, so you can charge mobile devices, should you run out of juice when away from a power socket.
There are hooks to help you attach the Rugged Rukus to your backpack, so you can lash on this sound system and obliterate the sounds of nature as you tramp through the hills. The Eton Rugged Rukus will be available in Q1 2013 for $99.99; no word on UK pricing.
In addition, Eton is launching the Rukus XL, with full-range 22W speaker drivers and that solar panel to keep things powered and a USB charging port. Pitched as being perfect for BBQs or parties, it also has Bluetooth and an elastic strap to keep your smartphone securely attached to the device.
The Rukus XL will be available in Q2 2013, priced at $199.99; no word on UK pricing.
