Microsoft plans to launch its mobile version of Office for iOS and Android in early 2013, with the version for Apple devices to hits first - prospectively February or March.
The Office Mobile app will offer the ability to view Word, PowerPoint and Excel documents and files to all owners with a Microsoft account, and will open up editing functionality to those who subscribe to Office 365.
The Verge, who's sources revealed the details, claims users will be able to subscribe to Office 365 from within the app, and companies will have the option to distribute (paid) codes to enable Office Mobile editing for employees.
It is being said that only basic editing facilities will be on offer, however. Office Mobile will not be a replacement for the main software running on a laptop of desktop PC.
