To the outside world, the US Elections seem, for most of the time, like an unfathomable melodrama that puts many long-running soaps to shame.
The entire process appears complicated, what with the collegiate system rendering only a handful of states any real influence over proceedings.
There are the multi-multimillion-dollar campaigns. There are the mud-slinging and dirty tricks that seem to be employed by the fringes of the political movements on both sides.
And there are the ideological positions of the opposing campaigns which, to most people beyond the borders of the United States, seem to be almost incomprehensible in the way they divide opinion, sometimes even within families.
Yep, from across the pond, it’s all a bit much, but it’s all the more fascinating because of it.
If you’re keen to follow the election as it draws towards it’s climax, you could do worse, especially as an overseas spectator, than huffingtonpost.com/news/election-international-view, which at least tries to keep things clear for the uninitiated.
From this side of the pond it would seem like a no-brainer, but it’s one of the tightest races in decades.
Anything can happen in the next 48 hours and this is a great site to keep up to date with the latest developments.
