Brit audio brand Roth Audio has released a set of stereo speakers with a difference. Not only does one of them feature a built-in power amplifier and compatible sockets for a host of connection types, but it also includes Bluetooth technology so that you can play music stored on a smartphone, computer or tablet device wirelessly through the pair.
The Roth Audio OLi POWA-5 speakers come in a set of two: one active, one passive. Each is capable of outputting 40W of power and is made up of a 1-inch soft dome tweeter, 5-inch kevlar woofer.
It's the Class AB amp that offers a lot of the clever stuff, including inputs for stereo analogue audio, 3.5mm mini jack and two optical digital audio ports. There are also two USB outputs - so you can charge your device while streaming - and a separate audio point for hook up to a separate dedicated subwoofer.
All of this is housed in the active speaker of the two, and the other is powered by the first.
"The POWA-5 design is pure Roth AV – it’s a compelling fusion of cutting-edge technology and good old fashioned, high-quality audio. And all at a hugely competitive price," says James Roth, founder of the audio firm.
The Roth OLi POWA-5 speakers will be available from 12 November for £249.99 a pair. They will be available in black, white and red gloss finishes and you can find out more from www.rothaudio.co.uk.
