LaCie updates its Porsche Design hard drive for Macs, now 10 times faster

Sexy is not an adjective often associated with hard drives, but then it’s not often hard drives are created by Porsche Design.

The LaCie P’9223 Slim SSD is the latest collaboration between LaCie and Porsche Design and is its fastest hard drive yet. Sporting both an optional SSD and a USB 3.0 port, transfers are 10 times faster than previous models that relied on USB 2.0, with speeds reaching 400MB/s.

It's optimised for the Mac, and LaCie says users who run the latest OS X Mountain Lion on their computers will notice even quicker transfer speeds.

As well as being the fastest, the LaCie P’9223 Slim SDD from Porsche Design is also the slimmest storage device from the manufacturer, at just 2.5-inches thick.

Available in 120GB SSD and 500GB HDD variants, the Porsche Design Slim P’9223 starts at £79.99 and can be purchased from the LaCie Online Store as well as select LaCie partners.
