Amazon Kindle Paperwhite sold out... next batch not here until November
Amazon is reporting delays of four to six weeks for orders placed now for its Kindle Paperwhite eReaders.
According to the US Amazon site: “Due to popular demand, orders placed today are expected to ship in four to six weeks. Limited to two per customer.”
This time frame will take us into November, though those customers who pre-ordered the device when it was flaunched in September are reporting to have begun receiving their Kindle Paperwhite already – including Pocket-lint’s very own Stuart Miles.
The Kindle Paperwhite boasts a front-lit display that provides a 25 per cent better contrast than previous Kindles and a pixel density of 212ppi. Despite the increase in illumination, Amazon promises a battery life of up to eight weeks from a single charge for the Kindle Paperwhite.
At present, the Kindle Paperwhite can be ordered only from the US version of the Amazon store for $119 for the Wi-Fi-only model and $179 for the 3G version.
