Internet browser Firefox continues to grow in popularity with the announcement that it has been downloaded over 50 million times since its launch last year.

We reported (here) in February that the browser had been downloaded 25 million times suggesting that the speed at which firefox is catching on is still growing.

The success has been put down to the Spread Firefox campaign, which almost 100,000 people participated in.

Web-analytics firm OneStat.com has posted figures that reveal that Firefox has captured 8.69% of the global browser market share on its website

The browser still has a long way to go however, OneStat.com suggest Microsoft currently holds 86.63% of browser usage.
