Apple has confirmed to Pocket-lint that it will be discontinuing the iPhone 3GS in the coming weeks, when it runs out of stock.
Moving forward, Apple will stock only the iPhone 4, the iPhone 4S, and the new iPhone 5, which is released in the UK on 21 September.
Launched in June 2009, the iPhone 3GS added more speed to the 3G version of the iPhone launched the year before.
However as Apple's has added more and more technology, the phone hasn't been powerful enough to offer many of the new tricks introduced with the iOS operating system.
Apple has confirmed that Apple iPhone 3GS users will be getting the iOS 6 update alongside the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, new iPad, iPad 2and iPod touch, as well as the iPhone 5.
The iPhone 4 now becomes the lowest-ranged iPhone. Apple has said that in the US it will be free for those on contract. Contract prices in the UK are expected to be very cheap.
