LG EA93 21:9 widescreen monitor pictures and hands-on

LG's been launching lots of products on a grand scale at this year's IFA trade show. But here's one that's a little more unusual than the likes of the 84-inch 4K telly. It's a 29-inch, 21:9 aspect ratio widescreen monitor.

The LG EA93 caters for the same 1080 vertical lines as a Full HD resolution offers, but the 2560 horizontal pixels make it far longer than a standard 16:9 display.

If you want that true cinema experience without the borders then this monitor might be right up your street. Although it'll trim off the extra height of an IMAX frame, so fans of Nolan's Batman trilogy beware.

The monitor looks similar to LG's latest TV designs, including its silver-like stand, and the LCD IPS display offers a similar thickness too. The bezel around the outside of the EA93 is slim, except for the base bar which extends deeper.

On the rear there are all manner of connections, including USB 3.0 ports and an HDMI connector.

Although we were unable to test it, the monitor also offers Dual Link-up to connect to other screens. Two of these in landscape would be, well, just downright insane we reckon though.

On LG's IFA 2012 stand the EA93 looked decent to our (admittedly weary) eyes. One for the movie heads for sure.
