NTT DoCoMo launches mobile for kids

Child-friendly 3G phone

11 December 2007 10:56 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

Just launched by NTT DoCoMo, the FOMA F801i is a new child-friendly 3G mobile phone loaded with special features aimed at wee folk.

The handset has been specially ergonomically designed for easy use by small hands, and its waterproof body is rugged in anticipation of what kids will put it through - it can withstand accidental immersion in water (up to 30 minutes at one-metre depth).

There's also a 100-decibel kidnap alarm, LED light, pre-selected numbers for super-quick dialling and a wrist strap transmitter that raises the alarm if it goes out of range of the phone for too long.

All in all, a phone to keep parents happy, but at least it looks more credible for the kids to carry around than Omego's recent UK offering.
