Prominent Google+ users will have the option of personalising their page with custom URLs.
Thousands of “verified [and well-known] brands and individuals” will be notified that they are part of the lucky “few” via email or when they visit their Google+ profile or page.
It means users of Google’s own social networking site will be able to add their name or brand to the URL. For example, google.com/pocket-lint.
Google says it plans to roll out more personalised Google+ URLs in the future, so if you’re not a high-flyer in the corporate world or a rock'n'roll star with millions of adoring fans, don’t worry.
In fact Google is inviting Google+ verification requests now, albeit at present it’s only applicable to businesses and organizations. You can apply yourself by clicking here.
The roll-out is expected to take a few days to be completed, so keep an eye on your Google+ page and email inbox.
