Sony Mobile has confirmed that the 2011 Xperia range of smartphones is to get Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich from this week subject to the usual tests operators carry out around the world before releasing the update to customers.
"Starting from this week, Xperia arc, Xperia Arc S, Xperia neo, Xperia neo V, Xperia mini, Xperia pro, Xperia active and Xperia ray will receive a new Ice Cream Sandwich software update that comes with bug fixes, performance tweaks and other improvements," states Sony Mobile on the company's blog.
That leaves the Xperia mini pro, Xperia neo L and Live with Walkman still to go. but Sony has confirmed they are coming in the "the next few weeks" rather than months.
If you’ve already upgraded to ICS, you’ll receive a notification in your phone and be able to download it over-the-air, the company says. For those on Gingerbread, you'll need to upgrade via a PC or Mac.
