The Sony Xperia SL is now official, after the manufacturer took to its website to post specs and photos of the follow-up to its Sony Xperia S.
Most of the details are what we expected, with a 1.7 GHz Qualcomm MSM8260 dual-core processor on board, and the phone available with black, white, silver, and pink back covers – though there’s no blue as was expected.
However, those hoping the phone would be launched with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will have to settle for Ice Cream Sandwich. The display is a 4.3-inch TFT screen with a 1280 x 720 resolution and the capacity to display up to 16 million colours.
Sony has also been generous with the snapping credentials, kitting the Xperia SL with a 12.1-megapixel camera complete with auto focus, 16x digital zoom and pulsed LED flash. In terms of dimensions, the Sony Xperia SL measures 128 x 64 x 10.6mm and weighs in at 144g.
The Sony Xperia SL will get a more “official” unveil at Sony’s IFA event on 29 August, when we should also get an idea of availability.
