Harrods is selling a version of the Vodafone Smart II that has had its back cover redesigned by a member of The Tate Collective, a group of young creative artists.
Only 1,000 Vodafone Smart II Tate Edition handsets, designed by 19-year-old Gaby Sahhar, are available, with customers needing to venture to the third floor of London’s most famous retail store.
Vodafone worked with the Tate Collective, asking the artists to submit their ideas for a new back cover. The operator eventually chose Sahhar’s colourful electric design.
The Vodafone Smart II Tate edition is on sale now for as long as the 1,000 handsets are available - and if you thought you’d have to pay through the nose for a limited-edition mobile phone, you’d be wrong.
Customers can get their hands on the Vodafone Smart II Tate edition for just £70 on a Pay As You Go. But we suggest you hurry.
The Vodafone Smart II features a 3.2-inch touchscreen, 3.15-megapixel camera with LED flash, has Wi-Fi and HSDPA connectivity and runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
UPDATE 17 August: The Vodafone Smart II Tate edition is now available to buy online too from the Vodafone store.
