The Withings Health Companion app has arrived on the iOS platform to help iPhone and iPad users lose weight, become fitter or simply improve their sleep patterns.

With the Olympics hopefully starting a fitness surge among the public, the Withings Health Companion app is compatible with existing health and fitness apps, including RunKeeper, as well as other accessories such as Withings WiFi Body Scale, by pulling information from the Withings Health & Wellness Cloud.

Data from these apps can be imported on to the Withings app, or likewise weight information from the Withings app can be transferred to 60 other fitness apps.

Data gathered from physical exercise, heart rate, weight and sleep quality can be displayed in graph form or even as a snapshot of a butterfly. Four wings symbolise each area of health, with weight pink, activity orange, sleep blue and heart green. Depending how "healthy" you are in each area, the bigger the wings become.

Reminders can be set and goals and achievements shared with friends and family. The app will also provide tips for how to improve your sleeping routine.

At present the Withings Health Companion app is available only on iOS devices (free from the App Store), but Withings says the application will eventually be released on Android.
