I think it’s safe to say that most people will be impressed by the BBC coverage of the Olympics in London.

Twenty-five dedicated channels, with red button integration, online streaming, iPlayer catch-ups, peerless radio broadcasting and all manner of other technological marvels to bring the best of the action to the widest possible audience. It’s actually quite bewildering when you sit down to watch something.

What I am less impressed by is this: bbc.co.uk/news/uk-19050139.

It’s an innocuous little URL isn’t it? What harm could possibly come of it?

Plenty, that’s what.

This is where you put in your height and weight and it matches you to an Olympian. A sort of “see what you could’ve been" generator.

That’s fine for those in the office who come out as cyclists, sprinters and volleyball players. Oh, yes. That's fine.

It’s not fine for those who come out as a shot putter. (From Hungary. Female.)

Move along people, there’s nothing to see here…
