Apple OS X Mountain Lion release date: Wednesday 25 July
The new version of the operating system adds a number of new features as the company looks to make the desktop operating system more in line with its iPad and iPhone OS.
New to the mix this time around are a Notification Center that lets you see what emails, Twitter, and other notifications you have, in-built Twitter support, better sharing, the addition of Game Center and more than 200 new features.
The new update, which is expected to weigh in around 4GB in size, will be available only via download rather than a disc. Unlike the current version of the operating system, OS X Lion, users won't be able to buy a physical copy, even on USB.
We will have a full review of the new OS and all its features soon. In the meantime check out the 10 features to get excited about and our First Look: Apple OS X Mountain Lion review based on our time with the developer preview.
