Microsoft and 343 Industries have premiered their Halo 4 live action series trailer at Comic Con in San Diego and revealed that the digital shows will be appearing on the video streaming site from 5 October.
The series, Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, will initially be shown on Machinima Prime, a new online channel launched by the online video site. Five episodes are being made, and they will appear regularly up to the launch date of the Xbox 360 game itself, 6 November.
Machinima Prime will also have exclusive content, backstory and character pieces available to its subscribers.
The series starts with the humans' first encounters with the Covenent and follows the exploits of a group of cadets from the United Nations Space Command (UNSC) military academy. It also features Master Chief, as you'll see in the trailer.
Fans are already getting excited about the live action episodes, with comments on YouTube being mainly congratulatory.
"This looks better than any movie in the cinemas now," posts hYperion093.
"This s*** gave me goose bumbs when chief walked in," claims superFaTaL55
And sup3rs0ldi3r just blurts out, "CHIEF!!!!!!!" Which is a lot of exclamation marks in anyone's book.
Not everybody is impressed though. "The acting is bad and the film looks really cheesy," says SabianGalaxy.
To us, it looks like a cross between the newer Battlestar Galactica and Starship Troopers, which is no bad thing. Roll on October.
