Rovio's Amazing Alex game comes out to play, could it be the new Angry Birds?

Rovio, the team behind Angry Birds has revealed its next gaming phenomenon in the shape of “Amazing Alex”, as it arrives on the Apple iOS and Google Android platforms.

The game sees our hero, Alex, use the science of physics (don’t let that put you off, kids) to turn mundane everyday tasks such as cleaning a bedroom into impressive chain reactions that see you bounce, crash and rebound objects off one another.

Gamers will be able to play their way through 100 different levels, though you’ll also be able to create your own before sharing with other Amazing Alex players.

If all of this is sounding a little familiar, that’s because it is. Rovio has bought the rights to the game from a previous title called Casey’s Contraptions, released in 2011. However, following Rovio's rebranding the game, with its own tweaks, Casey’s Contraptions has since been pulled from the Apple App Store.

Amazing Alex is available from both the Apple App Store and Google Play for 69p and 64p respectively. Rovio has  says the game will be coming to Windows Phone, Mac and PC in the near future.
