If Bear Grylls is looking for a new watch, the Garmin Fenix Outdoor Watch should prove just the ticket. Geared towards the outdoor adventurer, the watch is kitted with GPS, is waterproof and will even measure your performance.

Before setting off on your adventure, routes can be plotted via the BaseCamp desktop app, which in turn will map out the coordinates on the watch. Explorers can identify specific stops along the way while the built-in compass and GPS will help keep you to the correct path. If you do happen to get lost, the watch’s TracBack function enables you to retrace your route step by step.

As well as maintaining your directional sense, the Garmin Fenix outdoor watch also monitors weather change, so you can find that needed shelter before a storm arrives - though being waterproof for up to 50 metres deep, you won’t need to worry about the watch drowning.

The round LCD display is scratch-resistant, while Garmin promises a battery life of up to 50 hours in GPS mode and up to six weeks when simply using it as a watch. Yes this tough nut tells the time too.

The Garmin Fenix Outdoor Watch is expected to begin shipping this autumn and will be available for around £250.
