Apple OS X Mountain Lion final version now with developers

Developers have now got their hands on the Golden Master version of Apple’s soon to arrive OS X Mountain Lion as they start working on new applications for the operating system. The fact that it sports the term Golden Master (GM) suggests this will be the final version, which Apple users will be able to buy this month.

Having already learnt that OS X Mountain Lion would facilitate similar features to Apple’s iPhone and iPad iOS platform - reminders, messages, notes, Game Center and Notification Center – consumers were told of more treats in store at the WWDC event in San Francisco in June.

These included AirPlay Mirroring that enables streaming of up to 1080p video from your device to an Apple TV or other AirPlay-compatible AV receiver.

Facebook would also be more heavily integrated into the OS, while the Power Nap feature will update, back-up content and retrieve email while the new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air notebooks are in standby mode.

OS X Mountain Lion will be available from later in July from the Mac App Store for $19.99.
